Rip Current Statement issued February 27 at 3:50PM ChST until March 3 at 5:00AM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 11 feet and dangerous rip
currents.
* WHERE...For the High Surf Advisory, along north facing reefs.
For the High Rip Current Risk, along north and east facing reefs.
* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 5 PM ChST Friday. For
the High Rip Current Risk, through late Sunday night.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...North swell is expected to subside enough
to allow for the rip current risk and surf along north facing
reefs to fall below hazardous levels Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, elevated northeast trade swell will continue to bring
a high risk of rip currents along east facing reefs through
Sunday night.
Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.
If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the
shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help.

If able, swim in a direction following the
shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help.
