Special Weather Statement issued February 27 at 12:38AM CST by NWS Quad Cities IA IL
Patchy dense fog with visibility of 1/2 mile or less will occur
early this morning across portions of northwest Illinois. Expect
to encounter sharply reduced visibility and rapid changes in
visibility when driving in and out of this patchy dense fog. The
foggy conditions should improve after 4 AM as west winds increase
and some high clouds move in from the northwest. Until then
motorists are advised to leave extra travel time and to reduce
speed, use low beams, and increase following distance when driving
in dense fog.

NWS Tiyan GU
High Surf Advisory issued February 27 at 4:59PM ChST until February 28 at 5:00AM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 ft.
* WHERE...North facing reefs of Palau and Yap.
* WHEN...Until 5 AM ChST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated northerly swell associated with a
dissipating shear line fragment is generating hazardous surf for
the north facing reefs of Yap and Palau, with Yap surf observations
showing 9 ft of surf for north reefs. Swells and corresponding surf
will continue to gradually diminish as the shear line fragment
lifts northwest, with surf expected to fall below hazardous levels
for Friday.
Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

NWS Tiyan GU
Small Craft Advisory issued February 27 at 4:59PM ChST until February 28 at 5:00AM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU
* WHAT...Northeast winds 10 to 20 kt and seas 8 to 11 feet.
* WHERE...Palau and Yap Coastal Waters.
* WHEN...Until 5 AM ChST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The westernmost shear line fragment located
just north of Yap and Palau will continue to gradually lift
northwest of the area, and winds have begun to diminish across the
region. However, seas remain elevated this afternoon, with
satellite altimetry indicating 7 to 10 foot seas just west of Yap
and 8 to 11 foot seas near Palau. As the shear line fragment moves
away and winds diminish further, seas are expected to relax below
10 feet for the end of the week.
Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.
