NWS Goodland KS
Fire Weather Watch issued March 2 at 12:18PM MST until March 3 at 6:00PM MST by NWS Goodland KS
...Critical Fire Weather Conditions Forecast Monday...
.Gusty winds southerly winds are forecast to develop during the
afternoon hours Monday. Much drier air is also forecast to move
in from the west dropping humidity values into the low teens.
There still is uncertainty with how far east the dry air will push
leading to questions on how many hours of potentially critical
conditions exist especially for Wichita and Logan counties.
The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a Fire
Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from Monday morning through Monday afternoon.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 027 Wallace, 028 Logan, 041
Greeley, 042 Wichita, 253 Kit Carson and 254 Cheyenne.
* TIMING...From Monday morning through Monday afternoon.
* WINDS...South 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Around 13 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
red flag warnings. Avoid driving on dry grass or brush. Maintain
vehicle brakes and tires and secure tow chains to avoid dragging.
Never toss lit cigarettes onto the ground.

Aviation interests may experience localized but extreme
turbulence, or strong downward airflows if flying in the near the
Guadalupe Mountains.
Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stay
indoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop in
visibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing
sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far
as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the
way off and keep foot off the brake pedal. Remember, 'Pull Aside,
Stay Alive'.
Winds will be particularly hazardous at higher elevations where the
strongest winds are likely to occur. Be especially careful driving
in these mountainous areas. People driving high-profile vehicles
should strongly consider postponing travel in these areas until the
winds subside.
Use caution if flying low near the mountains as severe turbulence is
possible.
Use caution when driving as blowing dust may reduce visibility.

The High Wind Watch has been replaced. Please see the latest information from NWS Midland/Odessa TX on this developing situation.
Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stay
indoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop in
visibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing
sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far
as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the
way off and keep foot off the brake pedal. Remember, 'Pull Aside,
Stay Alive'.
Winds will be particularly hazardous at higher elevations where the
strongest winds are likely to occur. Be especially careful driving
in these mountainous areas. People driving high-profile vehicles
should strongly consider postponing travel in these areas until the
winds subside.
Use caution if flying low near the mountains as severe turbulence is
possible.

NWS Goodland KS
Winter Storm Watch issued March 2 at 12:36PM MST until March 4 at 11:00PM MST by NWS Goodland KS
* WHAT...Heavy wet snow and significant blowing snow forecast. Total
snow accumulations around 4 inches possible. Winds could gust as
high as 70 mph resulting in whiteout conditions.
* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Colorado, northwest
and west central Kansas, and southwest Nebraska.
* WHEN...From Monday evening through Tuesday evening.
* IMPACTS...The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may
down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. The
hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday morning and evening
commutes. Travel will become dangerous to even impossible. Strong
northerly winds and blowing snow may place considerable stress on
livestock and other outdoor animals.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A wide range of snowfall amounts continue to
remain forecast due to variations of timing with the changeover of
rain to snow. A quicker changeover would lead to higher
accumulations and a slower changeover would lead to lower amounts.
Snow banding potential is possible as well; currently that
potential is favored across eastern Colorado where localized
higher to much amounts will possible. Where these occur at would
support greater impacts to travel, trees and power lines.
Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.
Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.

NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Special Weather Statement issued March 2 at 2:50PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Another very dry day with minimum relative humidity of 15 to 20
percent through this afternoon. While winds are much weaker and
temperatures much cooler, dry vegetation due to lack of recent
rainfall combined with the dry air has once again enhanced the
wildfire danger across the western Carolinas and northeast
Georgia. Multiple wildfires are ongoing across the area, and the
South Carolina Forestry Commission has issued a burn ban for the
entire state. Outdoor burning is also strongly discouraged across
the remainder of the area.

NWS Charleston SC
Special Weather Statement issued March 2 at 2:57PM EST by NWS Charleston SC
Conditions across southeast South Carolina and southeast Georgia
will support increased fire danger through the afternoon hours.
The combination of critically dry fuels, southwest winds gusting
to around 20 mph, and relative humidity values as low as 15 to 20
percent could result in dangerous and erratic fire behavior.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn. If you do, you are advised to use extreme caution.
