Special Weather Statement issued March 8 at 3:13AM EST by NWS Upton NY
The combination of low relative humidity values near 30 percent
and northwest winds gusting 30 to 35 mph will create an elevated
risk for fire spread across the region today.
Exercise caution handling any potential ignition sources,
including machinery, cigarettes, and matches. Any fires that
ignite will have the potential to spread quickly.
This forecast considered meteorological, fuel, and land
conditions, and has been developed in coordination with NY, NJ,
and CT fire and land management officials.

NWS Austin/San Antonio TX
Red Flag Warning issued March 8 at 2:27AM CST until March 8 at 8:00PM CST by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX
...BREEZY AND DRY BEHIND A COLD FRONT SATURDAY WILL RESULT IN
CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS...
.A cold front will move through South-Central Texas from west to
east today between now and mid-afternoon. This boundary will
bring much drier air and breezy northwesterly winds. Relative
humidity will drop below 20% from the western Hill Country,
southern I- 35 Corridor, and western Coastal Plains to the Rio
Grande. Winds will be 15-25 mph with higher gusts up to 30 mph
during the afternoon and early evening. This will result in the
likelihood of critical fire weather conditions.
* AFFECTED AREAS...Western two thirds of South Central Texas
* TIMING...From noon today to 8 PM CST this evening.
* WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 13 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop may rapidly increase in size
and intensity, move quickly, and be very difficult to control.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

NWS New Orleans LA
Special Weather Statement issued March 8 at 2:29AM CST by NWS New Orleans LA
Very warm air flowing over the colder waters of the Mississippi
River and Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas and Lake Borgne has
allowed patchy dense fog to develop, especially on the Mississippi
River, and anywhere roadways are crossing these bodies of water.
Traffic and web cameras indicate very low visibilities in these
areas, as low as one quarter to one half mile in some locations.
Mariners on the Mississippi River and travelers crossing water
should be prepared for rapid changes in visibilities this morning
and exercise caution until conditions improve.
