NWS Quad Cities IA IL
Red Flag Warning issued March 17 at 11:27AM CDT until March 17 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL
...Critical Fire Weather Conditions...
.The combination of strong southerly winds, low relative
humidity, and dry fuels will result in critical fire weather
conditions today. If a fire were to start, it would likely spread
quickly and be difficult to extinguish. As a result, any outdoor
burning is not recommended.
* AFFECTED AREA...Portions of eastern Iowa, northwest Illinois,
and northeast Missouri.
* TIMING...From 11 AM this morning to 8 PM CDT this evening.
* WINDS...South 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 to 25 percent.
* TEMPERATURES...Low 60s across eastern portions of the outlook
area to lower 70s in the west.
* IMPACTS...Any grassland or field fires that start will spread
rapidly and be very difficult to contain. Outdoor burning is
not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
