Special Weather Statement issued March 19 at 6:18AM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA
The combination of low relative humidity and gusty winds will
create an increased risk for fire spread through this evening.
Expect relative humidity values in the teens to 25 percent range
and south to southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to
25 mph. Higher wind gusts are possible along the ridges.
These conditions could lead to the rapid spread of any fires that
do occur. Consult your local burn permitting authorities on
whether you may burn outdoors today. West Virginia law prohibits
burning in the spring from 7AM to 5PM...March 1st through May
31st.

NWS Pittsburgh PA
Special Weather Statement issued March 19 at 6:18AM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA
A combination of dry and windy conditions this afternoon will
create an elevated risk of wildfire spread across Western Pennsylvania.
Minimum relative humidity values will range from the teens to 25
percent accompanied by southerly wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph.
Residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential
ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches. Hold
on to your cigarette butts! If dry grasses and tree litter begin
to burn, the fire will have the potential to spread rapidly.
For more information about wildfire danger and wildfire
prevention and education, please visit the Pennsylvania Department
of Conservation and Natural Resources website at

Special Weather Statement issued March 19 at 6:53AM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA
Relative humidity values of 12 to 23 percent will combine with
wind gusts of 15 to 25 mph and dry fuels to result in an increased
danger of fires burning out of control this afternoon and evening
across northwest North Carolina, portions of southwest and
central Virginia, and southeast West Virginia this afternoon and
evening.
People are urged to avoid outdoor burning today. If you must
burn, use extreme caution since fires can grow quickly and become
dangerous in these conditions. Ensure that fire suppression
equipment is readily available. Properly extinguish and dispose of
any smoking materials.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether
you may burn outdoors.
