...DANGEROUS FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS LIKELY THROUGH THIS EVENING...
Very warm temperatures combined with critically low relative
humidity values and uptick in wind gusts will significantly
increase fire danger conditions this afternoon and evening. With
coordination between the National Weather Service in Peachtree
City, Georgia and Land Managers, a Red Flag Warning has been
issued for Rabun and Habersham Counties in Northeast Georgia.
The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is
in effect until 9 PM EDT this evening.
* AFFECTED AREA...Rabun and Habersham in Northeast Georgia.
* TIMING...Until 9 PM EDT this evening.
* WINDS...South 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* HUMIDITY...15 to 25 percent range, as low as the single digits
at higher elevations.
* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
Special Weather Statement issued March 19 at 9:53AM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
The combination of low humidity and gusty winds will result in a
greater risk of adverse fire behavior and rapid fire spread through
this afternoon.
Relative humidity values will drop 20 to 25 percent across most of
the area this afternoon, with values of 15 to 20 percent in the
Alleghenies. Southeast to south winds around 10-15 mph will gust
between 20 to 25 mph. For the ridges, higher gusts up to 35 mph
are expected. Temperatures this afternoon reach the 70s at most
locations.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you may burn outdoors. If you do burn, use extreme caution since
fires can increasingly escalate under these conditions.
