NWS Chicago IL
Winter Weather Advisory issued March 20 at 12:03AM CDT until March 20 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL
* WHAT...Accumulating heavy wet wind-whipped snow expected. Total
snow accumulations 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts
possible. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and northeast Illinois
and northwest Indiana.
* WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute. Gusty winds
could bring down tree branches.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The snow is expected to fall at up to an inch
per hour for a period overnight. While road temperatures remain
above freezing, the heavy snow rates will allow for slushy
accumulations on paved surfaces, with bridges and overpasses
expected to be the most vulnerable to slushy accumulations. The
combination of the heavy snow and strong wind gusts will also
result in poor visibilities and hazardous travel conditions
overnight. Conditions will improve around daybreak this morning.
Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road
conditions for Illinois can be obtained at
www.gettingaroundillinois.com. The latest road conditions for
Indiana can be obtained at https://511in.org.

Winter Storm Warning issued March 19 at 10:44PM PDT until March 20 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 4000 feet. Total snow
accumulations between 10 and 15 inches above 4500 ft. Winds
gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE...East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades.
* WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Significant snowfall with periods of heavy snowfall
rates will combine with low visibility to create very difficult
driving conditions.
Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.
Do not touch downed lines and report any power outages to your
electric company. Travel is highly discouraged due to slick roadways
and the possibility of downed trees and power lines.
