A series of winter systems move in through the end of the week
bringing heavy snow to the Cascades. The ongoing system will be the
most snow heavy, while the second that arrives on Friday will be
slightly warmer with less accumulating snow. Snow levels rise Friday
night.
* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow. Additional snow
accumulations up to 6 inches. For the Winter Weather Advisory
above 4000 feet, snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 10
inches.
* WHERE...South Washington Cascades and the Northern and Central
Cascades of Oregon.
* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 11 PM PDT this evening.
For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 11 PM this evening to 11 PM
PDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will

A series of winter systems move in through the end of the week
bringing heavy snow to the Cascades. The ongoing system will be the
most snow heavy, while the second that arrives on Friday will be
slightly warmer with less accumulating snow. Snow levels rise Friday
night.
* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow. Additional snow
accumulations up to 6 inches. For the Winter Weather Advisory
above 4000 feet, snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 10
inches.
* WHERE...South Washington Cascades and the Northern and Central
Cascades of Oregon.
* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 11 PM PDT this evening.
For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 11 PM this evening to 11 PM
PDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will

At 509 PM EDT, doppler radar and surface observations indicated
winds shifting from south to northwest and gusting to around 35
knots along a front over western Fairfax County. This front was
located along a line extending from 21 nm northwest of Tidal Basin
to 14 nm west of Key Bridge to 15 nm northwest of Leesylvania State
Park, moving east at 15 knots.
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 35 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor. A
Gale Warning goes into effect at 6 PM.

a line extending from 11 miles north of Henderson to near Norlina to

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and heavy rain.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Reduced visibility and minor flooding
possible.
Strong thunderstorms will be near...
South Hill, Ebony, and La Crosse around 530 PM EDT.
Brodnax around 535 PM EDT.
Brunswick and Lawrenceville around 540 PM EDT.

At 558 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Beulahville to near Studley to near
Highland Springs. Movement was northeast at 60 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down small trees and blow around
unsecured objects. Wind impacting handling of high profile
vehicles.
Strong thunderstorms will be near...
Newtown, Manquin, Tunstall, Beulahville, Saint Stephens Church,
and Aylett around 605 PM EDT.
Champlain and King William around 610 PM EDT.
Millers Tavern around 615 PM EDT.
Stevensville, Montross, Tappahannock, Dunnsville, and Newland
around 620 PM EDT.
Center Cross and Warsaw around 625 PM EDT.
Sharps around 630 PM EDT.
Haynesville around 635 PM EDT.
Other locations impacted by these storms include Beazley, Currioman
Landing, Threeway, Etna Mills, Belle Isle State Park, Rose Garden,
Biscoe, Lyells, Crouch, and Mount Landing.
Heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
