NWS Gaylord MI
Winter Storm Watch issued March 27 at 10:01AM EDT until March 29 at 11:00AM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI
...FIRST WAVE OF SIGNIFICANT WINTRY MIX EXPECTED FRIDAY INTO
SATURDAY...
.A series of disturbances will pass through the Great Lakes Friday
and through the rest of the weekend, bringing mixed precipitation
that will come in waves. There is potential for significant sleet
accumulation across portions of Chippewa County, along with
significant icing potential across eastern upper Michigan. There is
also icing potential across far northern lower Michigan. This watch
is set to encompass the first wave of mixed precipitation, which is
slated to occur from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Another period of mixed precipitation is set to follow Saturday
night into Monday.
* WHAT...Significant icing possible. Total ice accumulations of one
to two tenths of an inch possible, locally up to four tenths
possible. Wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph will be possible. The
greatest impacts will favor areas north of M-68 in northern lower
Michigan.
* WHERE...Beaver Island and surrounding islands, and Cheboygan,
Emmet, and Presque Isle Counties.
* WHEN...From Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Significant ice accumulation on
power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting
power outages. Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the
ice. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening and
Saturday morning commutes.
Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.
Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.
Do not touch downed lines and report any power outages to your
electric company. Travel is highly discouraged due to slick roadways
and the possibility of downed trees and power lines.

* WHAT...Large breaking waves with dangerously high runup on
beaches of 22 to 25 feet.

NWS Brownsville TX
Flood Watch issued March 27 at 9:30AM CDT until March 28 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX
Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to
persist through today and into Friday. The potential for training of
slow moving showers and storms coupled with very high precipitation
rate efficiencies on top of already saturated soils could lead to
excessive runoff, which could lead to flooding of rivers, creeks,
stream, urban, poor drainage and other flood-prone low lying areas.
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of Deep South Texas, including the following
areas, Brooks, Cameron Island, Coastal Cameron, Coastal Kenedy,
Coastal Willacy, Inland Cameron, Inland Kenedy, Inland Willacy,
Jim Hogg, Kenedy Island, Northern Hidalgo, Southern Hidalgo,
Starr, Willacy Island and Zapata.
* WHEN...Through Friday morning.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains
and ditches may become clogged with debris.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

NWS Pendleton OR
Hydrologic Outlook issued March 27 at 7:53AM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR
ESFPDT
Well above average temperatures yesterday in tandem with mountain
rain through Friday and saturated soils will allow for efficient
runoff and increased river levels on area rivers, creeks and streams.
The primary concern is the John Day River at Service Creek which is
forecast to reach minor flood stage Friday morning through Saturday
morning, peaking Friday afternoon. The Naches River at Cliffdell is
currently in action stage and is forecast to peak Thursday night
before slowly declining to below action stage Tuesday evening. The
Yakima River at Umtanum is also currently in action stage and is
forecast to peak Thursday evening before dropping below action stage
Friday evening. The Grande Ronde River at Troy is forecast to reach
action stage this evening and peak Thursday night into Friday
morning before dropping below action stage Sunday morning. The
Naches River near Naches is forecast to reach action stage Thursday
morning and peaking Thursday night before dropping below action
stage Saturday morning. The Yakima River at Kiona is forecast to
reach action stage Friday morning, peaking Saturday morning before
dropping below action stage Sunday night. Several other rivers are
forecast to approach but not quite reach action stage. Smaller
creeks and streams may also have significant rises but at this time
they do not appear to reach levels that would cause flooding.
People with activities near creeks and streams should exercise
caution as flows will be swift and very cold water can quickly lead
to hypothermia if someone were to fall into the water.Stay tuned for
the latest forecast updates along with any flood warnings or
advisories that may be issued.
